My Number One: Anti-Chafe Product

For all of the non-runners out there, I must warn you that the following post may cross the line for you on what is appropriate to talk about in a public domain- but I'm doing it anyway!

I'm talking about the 'C' word of the running world..
CHAFING.

It's an issue that I expect most runners have come across and something that every runner longs to prevent. Chafing during a training run or race can completely throw you and cause unbelievable discomfort.

After searching and testing a few products on the market I've finally come across one that really seems to work.

Body Glide's Original Anti Chafe is a product that seems to have been around for years. I used it when running the Paris Marathon in April this year and had no issues with chafing whatsoever (and I was silly enough to run through the water hoses halfway around the course as well!). I've continued to use it throughout my training and I'm still struggling to find a real fault.

The beauty of this Anti Chafe stick is that it has absolutely no scent, unlike other products I've tried. The consistency is slightly waxy, but not uncomfortable and definitely not sticky. It's very difficult to tell that you've applied it once running, but it does the job!

The only potential drawback is that it is a stick, which means it's not the most hygienic product and it's not for sharing. My advice to anyone who has friends who like to ask if they can use your things- buy two! These are cheap enough that you can have your own and a back up to pass round anyone who forgot their anti-chafe supplies.

You can find the Body Glide Anti Chafe Stick at Wiggle for £6.25 and I'm sure it's be available in the US as well.
